Miss Manhattan Reading Series

"There are eight million stories in the Naked City..."

And these will be just some of them.

Created to give non-fiction writers a louder voice in the New York literary scene, the Miss Manhattan Non-Fiction Reading Series will gather for its November edition on Monday, November 1 at 7:30pm at Niagara Bar (112 Avenue A at 7th St.). It is hosted and curated by Manhattan-based writer and photographer Elyssa Goodman (https://www.elyssamaxxgoodman.com/).

The November reading will feature the insanely wonderful talents of:

David Gutowski: David Gutowski is a writer who lives in Brooklyn with his partner, dog, and cat. He has published the literary website Largehearted Boy for almost 20 years. His writing can be found at Longreads, McSweeney’s, The Millions, The Morning News, PBS, and elsewhere. He can be found in his Greenpoint backyard reading.

Alexander Cheves: Alexander Cheves, one of America's leading sex writers, is best known for his work as a contributing editor at The Advocate and his widely read "Sexy Beast" column. He is currently a columnist for Out Magazine and also runs the popular Love, Beastly advice blog, notable for its frank, unflinching answers to questions about Queer sex. His work has also appeared in VICE, Them, and other magazines. He is a recipient of a 2021 Excellence in Journalism award from the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. Alison Kinney: Alison Kinney is the author of two nonfiction books, Avidly Reads Opera (NYU Press 2021) and Hood (Bloomsbury 2016). Her work has appeared online and/or in print at Lapham's Quarterly, NYT, The New Yorker, The Paris Review Daily, The Guardian, Harper's, VAN Magazine, and other publications.
